Event Details
In this webinar, Roland Harwood and Ben Werdmuller will introduce you to the core concepts behind open innovation and open data and explore their enormous but yet untapped potential within the cultural sector. By attending the session either in person or online, you will learn the principles of open innovation, hear engaging stories of how organisations across the UK have have benefited from such approaches and take away practical advice on how openness can give your organisation the edge. This is the first of a special series of events co-hosted by AmbITion Scotland and the Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab.
Open innovation is:
- what happens when you innovate with others - in a way which everyone wins
- relevant to all areas of a cultural organisation
- increasingly popular in many sectors but under-explored in arts & culture
Open data is:
- a specific type of open innovation
- a process which allows people to create valuable services you do not have the ability or time to do by using your data
- a proven success for all types of organisation - from government to big business
Open innovation and open data are central ideas to the Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab. Given that they are relatively new thinking in the cultural sector, AmbITion Scotland is working with the Lab to ensure that key learnings are captured and disseminated to the wider cultural sector. You can look forward to hearing much more about their ambitious vision for open innovation and open data in culture; the lessons the festivals learn as they experiment; as well as practical guidance for all cultural organisations in how to take advantage of this opportunity.
